Authorities discover more than 300,000 used condoms being repackaged and sold in Vietnam

Police in Vietnam have busted a crime ring repurposing used condoms, with upwards of three hundred thousand rubbers washed, dried, and ready to go.

Some things in life just aren’t meant to be recycled. It’s safe to say, condoms are one of them. Authorities in Vietnam have uncovered a major operation involving the refashioning of used condoms and my only question is why?

According to Metro, more than 300,000 of them were discovered inside a warehouse in the southern Vietnam province of Binh Duong.

In what appears to be the work of either an avid environmentalist or an evil genius (or both), a condom-repurposing operation was in full swing, with workers hired to clean, dry, and reshape the rubbers using various sized wooden dildos, before finally repacking them to make them look new again.

Authorities raided the warehouse over the weekend, discovering almost 324,000, which weighed in at about 360 kilos. According to reports, warehouse owner Pham Thi Thanh Ngoc confessed she’d been receiving them once a month from an unknown source (hint: Hugh Hefner‘s ghost). She has now been taken into custody.

Alarmingly, some of the re-fashioned condoms had already made it to nearby hotels and market stalls. So if you’ve been bumping uglies in Binh Duong and you’re feeling a bit questionable, consider heading to your nearest doctor. Needless to say, re-using condoms risks unwanted pregnancy and the spread of STIs.
