Katy Rama Rao, executive chairman of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), on Saturday urged officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) to include Hyderabad as the venue for the tournament. The 14th season of the IPL is expected to start in April and the BCCI will soon announce the schedule of the tournament.
“I openly appeal to the BCCI and IPL officials to include Hyderabad as one of the venues for the upcoming IPL season,” KTRA said in a tweet. We have far fewer cases of Corona virus than all the metro cities in India and we have measures to prevent them and we assure you of all government assistance. ”
Some media reports have claimed that the BCCI wants to host the new IPL season in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Bengaluru. KTR’s statement came against it, which also mentioned handing over the host to Hyderabad. The BCCI had earlier planned to host the tournament in a city, but now the tournament could be held in five-six cities.
Speaking to AI earlier, a BCCI official said that the 14th season of the IPL is under consideration. “We are basically exploring the possibility of conducting the IPL in more venues,” the official said. It will have to take more fans, as the situation moves towards normalcy. A system of bio-safe bubbles and logistics will also be important. The health of the participants is our primary concern. “
