London, Sept 27: Midfielder Tom Cleverley’s 58 minute strike handed Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the third round of the Capital One Cup tie at Old Trafford. Brazilian Anderson put the Red Devils in front just before the break. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men draws with rivals Chelsea in the fourth round.
Arsenal striker Oliver Giroud scored his first goal for the Gunners as Londoners cruised hammered Coventry City 6-1 at the Emirates. Winger Theo Walcott scored twice as well as Alex Oxlade Chamberlian, Andrey Asharvin and Ignasi Miquel also got on the score sheet.
Liverpool came back to beat West Brom Albion 2-1 thanks to a brace from midfielder Nuri Sahin. The 24-year-old loanee from Real Madrid scored the winner eight minutes from time.
