Kohli’s dominance in the ICC ODI rankings, Bairstow’s advantage of such a place
New Delhi: India captain Virat Kohli has retained the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen. England’s Johnny Bairstow has managed to get into the top 10 due to his superb performance in the series against Australia.
Kohli (871 points) and vice-captain Rohit Sharma (855 points, second) have not played cricket for some time due to the break due to Covid-19, but they have retained their place in the rankings.
Bairstow added a total of 196 runs in the series and in the final match he scored 112 off 126 balls, making it to the top 10 again. The 30-year-old Bairstow from Yorkshire reached ninth place in October 2018 and is now 23 points away from his career-best rating of 777.
