New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell says that when the Indian team visited Australia last year, Virat Kohli first proposed to Glenn Maxwell to join the RCB. Maxwell said Kohli had asked him if he would join RCB in his IPL team.
“There was a conversation between us,” Maxwell said. After the ODI and T20 series, Kohli asked me to play for RCB whenever I got a chance. “It would be nice if you could join the team,” he said. But we have to go through the auction. ”
He further said, “Kohli said it would be good to join your team. He put this idea in my mind. The process took a long time and I am grateful to be playing for RCB now.
Notably, Glenn Maxwell was part of the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) team in IPL 2020. But it did not perform as expected and Punjab let it go before the IPL 2021 auction. After this, RCB bought Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore.
Maxwell, who did not hit a single six in IPL 2020, hit two sixes in his first match for RCB. Maxwell played an explosive 39-run innings in the match against Mumbai Indians. Captain Kohli sent Maxwell to bat along with AB de Villiers. Maxwell was fourth and De Villiers was fifth in the match against Mumbai.
