New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. Team India, which is going to Sri Lanka under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan, has given a chance to 6 new players. Padikal and Nitish Rana, who have excelled in the IPL, have also been rewarded by the BCCI for their place in the team.
The BCCI has decided to wager on young players led by Shikhar Dhawan for the tour of Sri Lanka. Devdutt Padikal, Rituraj Gaekwad, Chetan Sakaria. Spinners Varun Chakraborty, Nitish Rana and Krishnappa Gautam are the first players to be seen playing for Team India.
On the Sri Lanka tour, three or four of these 6 players may get a chance to make their debut. However, Varun Chakraborty has been selected in the team twice in the past. But Varun Chakraborty could not be a part of the team as he did not pass the fitness test both times.
Paddick is in superb form
In the T20 series against Sri Lanka, Padikal could be given the responsibility of opening with Shikhar Dhawan. Padikle has been batting well since his debut in the IPL last year. Padikle has scored 5 fifties and centuries in 21 IPL matches. The first century from Padikal’s bat came out in the 14th season of IPL.
