New Delhi: A four-Test series between India and England is scheduled to be played from February 5 at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium. In the series against England, Team India is going to play with its regular captain Virat Kohli. Apart from this, many players who were part of the historic victory in the last Test against Australia will not get a place in the team in the first match.
Team India will take on the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubhaman Gill in the first Test. At number three, Cheteshwar Pujara’s game is completely stable. With Virat Kohli returning to the team, he will be seen batting at number four.
In the absence of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane took over at number four. But Rahane will be batting fifth in the series against England. Rishabh Pant, who played a key role in the team’s victory in the Brisbane Test against Australia, is set to play at number six.
Kuldeep Yadav in preparation to play
Washington is likely to play in the beautiful 7th position. Sundar could get a chance to replace Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder in the 11th. However, Akshar Patel may also get a chance to play as an all-rounder.
Ashwin is ranked 8th. Bumrah is now fully fit and will be seen handling the bow of fast bowling. Ishant Sharma has also returned to the squad for the series against England. Ishant Sharma can draw attention to Mohammad Siraj because of his experience. It is almost certain that Kuldeep Yadav will be included in the playing XI as the third spinner.
Expected 11: Rohit Sharma, Shubhaman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (capt), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, R. Ashwin, Jaspreet Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma / Mohammad Siraj.
