New Delhi: The third Test of the series will be played between India and England at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad from February 24. The match is also very special for Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma with this new historic stadium in Motera. Ishant will have his 100th Test match of his Test career when he starts playing at Motera ground. Ishant will be the second fast bowler to achieve this feat after veteran Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev. Ishant also completed his 300 wickets in Test cricket in the current series against England.
Debuted against Bangladesh
Ishant, 32, made his Test debut against Bangladesh in 2007 under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. He has taken 302 wickets in 99 Tests so far. His best performance is 7 wickets for 74 runs in an innings. Ishant is 5 wickets faster 11 times in Test match innings. Notably, Ishant has played only one pink ball Test match so far. Ishant bowled brilliantly and took nine wickets in the match against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. He was 4 for 5 in the first innings of the Pink Ball Test match with 5 for 22 and 56 in the second innings.
The 12th Indian will play in the 100th Test
If Ishant joins the Indian team in the third Test at Motera, he will become the 12th Indian to play in the 100th Test. From India so far Sachin Tendulkar (200), Rahul Dravid (163), VVS Laxman (134), Anil Kumble (132), Kapil Dev (131), Sunil Gavaskar (125), Dilip Vengsarkar (116), Saurabh Ganguly (113) , Virender Sehwag (103) and Harbhajan Singh (103) have played 100 or more Tests.
