New Delhi: The Border-Gavaskar series between Australia and India is set to begin on Thursday. Australia refused to lift the veil from their playing XI. But it is almost clear that 11 players will be fielded by the Australian team in the first Test. Along with this, Australia has also got answers to the questions raised about its starting order.
It is clear from the statements of Australian captain Tim Penn that despite his poor form, Burns will have a chance in the first Test. Penn says Burns’ Test average is close to 40 and he currently deserves a chance on the team. Former Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade will appear as a partner in Burns.
Labushen was offered the responsibility of opening, but the Australian team at number three would not compromise the batting order given its impressive record. Steve Smith is also fully fit and arrived on the first field on Wednesday to practice. Smith will play at number four.
Green’s debut confirmed
Travis will take charge of Head Number Five. Australian coach Justin Langer has signaled the start of Cameron Green. Green will be seen batting at No. 6 during his debut. Tim Penn will play in seventh place.
Pat Cummins will earn the Australian team’s pace attack. In the first Test, Jose Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will be back to support Cummins. Nathan Lyon, who is 10 steps away from taking 400 wickets in Test cricket, will be in charge of spin bowling.
