Google has removed 100 fake instant loan apps from Playstore, the center said

ElectronicsAnd the Ministry of Information Technology said that Google has so far removed about 100 fake instant loan applications from its Playstore. These applications were allegedly involved in collecting personal data and adopting other methods of abuse, fraud, illegal activities of intimidation and ransom from debt.

In response to a question in the Lok Sabha, the ministry said that Google had removed about 100 apps from the Playstore between December, 2020 and January 20, 2021 after receiving information about such apps from investigating agencies. The ministry received many complaints from people about these applications. Google said it has also asked the rest of the app developers to show that they comply with local laws and regulations applicable in India.
