Vanessa Bryant Fires Back at Mother for Claiming She Was Kicked Out of Home

Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa Bryant has slammed her mother, Sofia Urbieta Laine, for accusations that she kicked her out of the home that they had both been living in. Laine aired the family drama on Monday in an interview on the “The fat and the skinny,” show, stating in Spanish that Vanessa told her she needed to get out of the house.

“She also told me that she wanted her car and she wants it now,” Laine said, according to Page Six.

Vanessa responded by stating that Laine had not been emotionally supportive to her family following the death of her husband, Kobe Bryant, and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna, who were killed in a helicopter crash in January.

“My husband and daughter passed away unexpectedly, and yet my mother had the audacity to do a television interview speaking negatively of me while shedding tears for a car and a house that were not in her name,” Vanessa said in a statement to the program.

“She has removed all her diamond jewelry, emptied the apartment I provided, and put away the furniture to make it look like she doesn’t have my support. My husband and I have supported her financially for the past 20 years, and continue to do so, in addition to her monthly alimony.”

Vanessa added that her mother had not been “physically present or emotionally supportive of my daughters or me” since Kobe and Gianna’s death.

“Now I see what is most important to my mother and it’s more than painful,” Vanessa continued. “I hope that everything that is coming out about our personal relationship ends here.”

The home in Irvine, California, is in the name of Erika Williams, who is the legal guardian of Vanessa’s daughters, Natalia and Bianka.
