President Donald Trump is speaking out against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who called on Americans to register to vote in the upcoming presidential election in a plea that appeared to endorse Joe Biden.
Trump lashed out at the couple on Wednesday during a press briefing, when asked to comment on speculation that Harry and Meghan were encouraging people to vote against him.
“I’m not a fan of hers and I would say this, and she has probably heard this, I wish a lot of luck to Harry — because he’s going to need it,” Trump said, according to People.
Harry and Meghan went against the British royal tradition to not venture into political territory on Tuesday night, during an appearance on Time 100. In the video, the couple said people who were able to cast their vote, should do so.
“Every four years we are told the same thing that this is the most important election of our lifetime,” Meghan said. “But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action and our voices are heard, your voice is a reminder that you matter, because you do, and you deserve to be heard.”
Harry added that it was “vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity” and while he did not publicly endorse Biden, many believe his comments were indirectly doing so.
This is not the first time Trump and Meghan have bumped heads. In 2016, Meghan criticized Trump during his election campaign as being misogynistic and divisive. Last year, Trump, on being told of Meghan’s criticism, said: “I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
