Hundreds of women marched on the district collector’s office today in heavy rains demanding forgiveness of loans given by private micro finance companies, postponement of loan recovery, closure of illegal finance companies.
Meanwhile, a statement of demands was given to District Collector Daulat Desai. He promised to inform the state government about this immediately. While the decision on microfinance companies was not taken soon, the women warned to start agitation.
Illegal transactions are being done by private micro finance companies in the district. Employees of these companies are threatening to go to the homes of women borrowers night and day for recovery. Women are being treated rudely and are being bullied. The women who have harassed these companies have tried to raise their voices against it through various movements.
