Will chilling horror series return for more?

The Terror has finally appeared on UK screens but fans who have binged the series already have begun to ask if The Terror will return for seasons 2 and 3.

After premiering in the US in 2018, AMC’s The Terror has finally made its way onto our screens here in the UK.

All 10 episodes of The Terror’s first season have been added to BBC iPlayer meaning fans can binge-watch to their heart’s content.

However, fans hoping for more of The Terror have been left asking when the already-made season 2 might appear on our screens and whether or not a season 3 will follow.

The Terror on BBC Two

Three years after its original airing on AMC in the US, The Terror arrives on BBC Two and iPlayer on March 3rd, 2021.

Season 1 of the horror anthology series tells the story of Captain Sir John Franklin’s lost expedition to the Arctic in the 1840s.

The fictionalised tale, inspired by true events, sees Franklin’s two ships, the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror get stuck in the frozen sea ice where the crews quickly come to realise that they are being hunted by a murderous menace.

Season 2 of The Terror

Fans hoping for more of The Terror will be pleased to know that a second season has already been made and was aired in the US in 2019.

Titled Infamy, The Terror’s second season is set during Second World War, specifically during the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack and how Japanese-Americans were sent to internment camps for much of the war where, like the Tuunbaq creature, a mysterious force emerges.

No UK release date has been set for season 2 but it will hopefully follow season 1 in due course.

Will the The Terror return for season 3?

  • The Terror has not been renewed for season 3 at the time of writing.

However, in January 2020, it was reported by Deadline that AMC was working on ideas that could form the basis of The Terror season 3.

Speaking about the prospect of a third season, AMC president, Sarah Bennett, said: “I’m curious how we can [continue] that franchise and look at what works. We don’t just want to keep doing the same thing, what would a season three look like.”

The Terror continues on BBC Two at 9pm on Wednesdays while all episodes of season 1 are streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
