Fargo season 4 has finally arrived on FX but just where was the new season filmed? Fargo’s season 4 filming locations are not where you’d expect!
Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve seen delays across the film and TV industry with releases being pushed back by months around the world.
One of the prime examples of this in US TV is that of Fargo season 4 which has finally arrived on our screens in September 2020.
The latest instalment in the Fargo anthology series, which was originally due to release in April, takes viewers to yet another location and time zone but just where was Fargo season 4 filmed?
Fargo season 4 on FX
Fargo season 4 began airing on FX on September 27th, 2020, almost six months after the new instalment was originally supposed to air.
The new season tells the story of Loy Cannon (Chris Rock), the head of a crime syndicate made up of black migrants.
The Cannon gang have fled the Jim Crow South but their new home and the local mafia are far from welcoming.
Where is Fargo season 4 set?
Fargo season 4 is set in Kansas City, Missouri and the story primarily takes place in the 1950s.
Control of Kansas City is the key to the opening exchanges in season 4 as several crime families and syndicates vie for power, with the Italian Fadda family eventually coming out on top.
That is unless Loy Cannon and his gang have anything to say about it.
Where was Fargo season 4 filmed?
For those out there who are sticklers for authenticity will be disappointed to learn that…
- Fargo season 4 was filmed primarily in Chicago, Illinois.
Despite being set in Kansas City, filming actually took place in the state to the east, Illinois.
According to Collider, filming began in Chicago in October 2019 but had to pause in March 2020 due to the emerging Covid-19 pandemic, which eventually resulted in the season being delayed so that filming could be completed, which it eventually was in August and September.
Specific locations in Chicago that were used for filming, according to The Cinemaholic, include Chicago’s Cinespace Film Studios, Rogers Park, Union Station as well as Old Norwood Park, Addison Road, Elgin and Riverside in the Uptown area of the city.
