When does Chicago PD season 8 episode 4 air?
- Episode 4 of Chicago PD season 8 airs on Wednesday, January 27th 2021 at 10/9c on NBC.
The episode is titled ‘Unforgiven’ and, as for what to expect, the episode 4 synopsis reads: “A cop is murdered, and suspicion falls on someone who has been holding a grudge against the officer; intelligence works hard to solve the case, but Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller is hesitant to defend him until she knows the whole story.”
Episode 5 – ‘In Your Care’ – is scheduled to air a week later on Wednesday, February 3rd 2021. It’s uncertain how many episodes will make up season 8.
So, why exactly was episode 4 delayed?
Chicago PD season 8 episode 4 delay explained
Meaww highlights that episode 3 was delayed due to the Capitol riots, moving from the schedule on Wednesday, January 6th and onto January 13th instead.
With episode 4, on the other hand, its absence from the schedule can be explained by the presidential inauguration. As you’ll know, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States on Wednesday, January 20th 2021, which affected programming.
Fortunately, Chicago PD will be back in no time.
Rick Eid talks Chicago PD season 8
Last year, showrunner Rick Eid spoke with Give Me My Remote about what to expect from season 8, and they asked him how discussions around police reform would influence the show:
“On screen, Voight will be forced to adapt to a changing police environment. He needs to evolve as a person and a cop, or his days as a Chicago police officer will be coming to an end. Off screen, the writers and producers have had lots of conversations about police reform, racial inequality, etc…We’ve also consulted with various high-level experts and consultants to make sure we’re up to date on what’s happening.”
Acknowledging how the pandemic shaped the new season, he added: “We’ve been forced to think smaller, not bigger. But this is a good thing for writers. It allows us to dig deeper into their personal arcs and storylines.”
Concluding, he announced that season 8 would “… be a season of dramatic change for many of our characters. New attitudes, new relationships, new beginnings…”
Chicago PD continues on Wednesday, January 27th 2021.
