Snowpiercer season 2 has revealed that Josie is alive, reversing her death in season 1 but just what happened to her? Why is Josie covered in bandages?
Snowpiercer is back on our screens for season 2 in 2021.
After episode 1 arrived on TNT in the US on February 3rd, episode 2 made the jaw-dropping revelation that Josie, a character previously thought dead, had survived.
But just what happened to Josie on Snowpiercer and how is she back in season 2?
Snowpiercer season 2
Season 2 of Snowpiercer arrived on TNT in the US and Netflix elsewhere in January 2021.
The new 10-episode season continues the story of the titular train that carries the remnants of humanity in a post-apocalyptic 2021.
After the dramatic events of season 1, the struggle for command of Snowpiercer intensifies thanks to the arrival of Sean Bean as Mr Wilford.
However, Wilford is not the only familiar face to appear in season 2.
What happened to Josie?
In season 1 of Snowpiercer, it appears that Josie Wellstead, played by Katie McGuinness, dies.
In episode 7, Josie was being held captive by Melanie after Zarah revealed that Josie had been working with Layton.
Melanie tortures Zarah, freezing her finger with a hose of air from the outside world and smashing it with a hammer.
A fight breaks out between the two and in the struggle, the pipe that fed the aforementioned hose is ruptured, filling the room with freezing air from outside.
Melanie manages to escape but it appears that Josie froze to death in the room.
Josie’s return in season 2
Episode 2 of season 2 contained one of the biggest revelations in Snowpiercer so far as it was revealed that Josie actually survived her freezing ordeal.
While helping out in the Third Class clinic, Zarah discovers that Josie is still alive.
However, she’s covered in bandages and labelled as a Jane Doe when we first see her as she was badly frostbitten.
It doesn’t take long for Zarah to recognise her though and after briefly toying with the idea of killing Josie, she informs Layton that she survived.
The episode ends with Layton rushing to Josie’s side, just in time for Josie to awaken as the credits start to roll.
