The Comptroller General of Drugs of India, Dr. V.G. Somani on Tuesday approved the Serum Institute of India to resume clinical trials on the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine. It also overturned an order banning the selection of new people in second- and third-stage tests. The hearing was adjourned for security reasons. Preliminary results of corona vaccine trials developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca PLC have been very encouraging. Proceedings in Britain and the United States were suspended after a volunteer who took the vaccine fell ill in the UK. The serum institute closed the vaccine trial after notice. The third phase vaccine trial was given in 17 countries as far as the US, Brazil, South America and India. Its impact was felt in India after the trial was banned in dozens of places in the US and UK.
