The Tata Group has been awarded the contract to build the new building Central Vista. The new Parliament building will cost Rs 861.90 crore. Tata Projects Ltd. won the contract for the construction of the new Parliament House at a cost of Rs. 861.90 crore. Tata has won the contract by beating Larsen & Turbo and Shapoorji Plonji & Co. Pvt. Earlier, seven companies were in the race to win the contract. The Central Public Works Department finally selected three companies for the contract. The new Parliament building will be on Plot No. 118 of Parliament House. The new building will be constructed under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project. The name of the Tata company is Tata Project Limited. The total area of the new parliament building is about 65000 square meters. It also includes a basement area of about 16921 square meters. This is a two storey building. The new parliament building will be ready by 2022, when India celebrates the 75th anniversary of its independence. The current building of Parliament dates back to the British period. Which is circular. The design of the new building will be triangular in shape. Earlier, the government had estimated the cost at Rs 940 crore. Larsen & Turbo had bid Rs 865 crore for the project. Officials say the current building of Parliament will be renovated and used for other purposes.
