Is The Baker and the Beauty season 2 confirmed? Is the series cancelled? Let’s consider the future now that season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
Netflix has given audiences plenty of new titles to enjoy in 2021, from intimate dramas like Malcolm & Marie to such gripping true-crime documentaries as Crime Scene: The Vanishing and the Cecil Hotel and Why Did You Kill Me?
However, you may have noticed that a number of older titles have been trending on Netflix as of late too.
The streaming service gives viewers the opportunity to finally check out some lesser-known gems from over the years, with one of the latest additions being The Baker and the Beauty, which arrived on Tuesday, April 13th.
This American rom-com drama series was developed by Dean Georgaris and premiered on ABC back in 2020. It’s actually an adaptation of the Israeli series Beauty and the Baker that emerged in 2017.
Now, let’s consider whether The Baker and the Beauty season 2 has been confirmed…
The Baker and the Beauty: Season 2 confirmed?
- ABC cancelled The Baker and the Beauty in June 2020 so no season 2 has been confirmed.
TVLine broke the news shortly after the ninth and final episode – titled ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ – aired. Considering its performance, it’s perhaps worth addressing that the series averaged a 0.47 demo rating and 2.5 million total viewers (Live+Same Day numbers).
It ranked last in the demo among the ten dramas that ABC aired that TV season.
During a Q&A after it was cancelled, showrunner Dean Georgaris told TVLine that the second season would have detailed “four love stories… at four very different, equally crucial moments.”
Although the news disheartened fans, one of the stars – Nathalie Kelley, who plays Noa Hamilton – posted an encouraging message on social media on the very same month of the cancellation:
“Guys we appreciate the love and well wishes following ABC’s decision not to renew us for a second season. But honestly their loss will be someone else’s gain, so stay hopeful and activated about the show while we find it the right home! Love u all.”
Since then, there has been no confirmation that the series has found a new home for a potential second season.
