Gilgit-Baltistan is an integral part of India
A statement from the Foreign Ministry said, “We have seen the report on the announcement of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections on November 15.” We oppose this move by Pakistan. At the same time, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as well as the Gilgit-Baltistan region have been an integral part of India since 1947. The government of Pakistan has no right over this area. The recently issued Gilgit-Baltistan Research Order 2020 in India and Pakistan regarding Gilgit-Baltistan has been rejected outright. India has once again asked Pakistan to return Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including the illegally occupied Gilgit-Baltistan region, to India.
What the Foreign Ministry said
An official notification issued by the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, last week said that the dates for the Assembly elections in Gilgit-Baltistan have been fixed. Assembly elections will be held on November 15. So the Pakistan Foreign Ministry says that the elections in Gilgit-Baltistan are an internal matter of Pakistan. India should not interfere in Pakistan’s internal political affairs.
