The FATF is an international body that sets guidelines for all countries by intervening in financial matters such as money laundering and terrorist financing. The blacklist has been placed on countries that are promoting terrorism economically.
During a meeting next month, the global watchdog will take note of the gray list placed in Pakistan. There are reports that Pakistan is on high alert and if millions are still to be seen, there will be a lot of trouble for the country. It is said that Pak was put on the gray list in 2018.
FATF President Marcus Plier said during a review meeting in October 2020 that Pakistan’s efforts to tackle terrorist financing had “very serious shortcomings” and that the country had until February 19-21 to resolve the issues, as they could not wait forever. The Greek City Times reported.
He further said that we want to see if the country has taken action against terrorism or brought some improvement, we give it time, but we cannot do it forever.
The Greek City Times reported that Pakistan is still on the gray list, but it will not take long to push it to the blacklist if it does not meet its commitments to stop financing terrorism. The FATF will remain under supervision even if it fulfills its responsibilities. It was under this that the FATF was shown several examples of videos and other things that were clear about how Pakistan is supporting terrorism.
