The Expenditure Department under the Ministry of Finance has announced the set of AFQs on the LTC Cash Voucher Scheme. It clarified that the employee can avail the benefit of the scheme by using the approved LTC fare under leave leave encashment.
Earlier, the government had made this announcement
The government announced the LTC cash voucher scheme on October 12. To avail the benefits of the scheme, employees will have to purchase products and services at which the GST rate will be more than 12 per cent. Yet employees have benefited from this facility only on travel. Or he has to give up this amount. The ministry says employees can take advantage of the scheme without having to take leave.
This clarification has been made in AFQ
Asked whether part of the LTC has been used by the employee or his family members, AFQ clarified that the remaining LTC fares during the year (2018-21) will also apply. Another question is if four members of an employee’s family are eligible for LTC, can the scheme be availed on fewer members as well, AFQ states that in such cases the LTC portion of the employee’s eligible family can avail the same partial benefit.
The ministry clarified
As the scheme is optional, if a member’s LTC rent is not used for this purpose, those members can take LTC as per the existing instructions of the LTC rules, the ministry said. It has been clarified that the employee can pay a lot of bills under this scheme, but the purchase must be made during the financial year ending in March.
