The first season of ‘Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous’ has only just premiered on Netflix, but fans are already wondering when the series will return for season 2.
The children of the Jurassic Park/World movies have always been secondary characters to the adults, but in ‘Camp Cretaceous’ it’s teens vs T-rex.
Whilst the Netflix original animated series may not be the action-packed rollercoaster ride of the blockbuster movies, it’s still an enjoyable journey through Isla Nublar with fantastic visuals and storytelling.
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous may have only just premiered on Netflix, but fans are already wondering if and when the series will return for season 2.
Will there be a season 2 of Camp Cretaceous?
- At the time of writing, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous has not been officially renewed for a second season by Netflix.
Whilst Netflix has not officially confirmed it, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous is almost guaranteed to be renewed for at least one more season. Not only does the season concludes with a cliff-hanger, but the entire final episode feels like it was setting up the framework for a second season anyway.
It’s a shame that we don’t have access to the viewing figures for Camp Cretaceous, but the series appears to be extremely popular amongst fans and is currently scoring a respectable 7.5/10 on IMDB and 60% on Rotten Tomatoes. Plus, Netflix is always looking to expand their original animated content, especially ones associated with massive franchises such as Jurassic Park/World.
Overall, with a finale that sets up a second season, solid reviews from fans and an expectation for more original animated content, we think that it is only a matter of time before Netflix officially confirms that Camp Cretaceous will be returning for season 2.
Camp Cretaceous season 2 release date…
The news that a Jurassic World CGI-animated series would debut on Netflix was announced back in June 2019. Assuming that season 2 will follow a similar production schedule of roughly 14-months, we can expect the sequel season to premiere in late-2021.
However, taking the fact that production will likely be streamlined for the second season and the first season itself was also hindered by the coronavirus pandemic, a more realistic release window would be summer 2021.
Hopefully, we will get an official confirmation from Netflix surrounding the future of Camp Cretaceous within the next few weeks, so keep checking back in for updates.
