New Delhi: On the one hand, petrol and diesel prices are rising day by day, while on the other hand, the price of a bottle of cooking gas is also rising sharply. On the first day of March, the price of LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 25. If we talk about the price hike on gas cylinders in February, it was Rs 25 on February 4 and Rs 50 on February 14. At the same time, on February 25, it increased by Rs 25. LPG prices have gone up by Rs 100 in February.
Once again, a 14.2 kg non-subsidized LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 25. With the price hike, the price of domestic gas in Delhi has gone up from Rs 794 to Rs 819. The new price has been fixed at Rs 819 in Mumbai, Rs 845.50 in Kolkata and Rs 835 in Chennai. Oil marketing companies did not make any change in LPG price hike in January. However, it had earlier increased by Rs 50-50 twice in the month of December. Prices rose on three different occasions in February. The total increase was Rs.100.
The price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder has gone up by Rs 90.50. Now the price of this cylinder has gone up to Rs 1614 in Delhi. Earlier, it was priced at Rs 1,523.50 per cylinder. As such, Mumbai’s rate is now Rs 1,563.50 per cylinder. In Kolkata, the price has gone up to Rs 1,681.50 and in Chennai to Rs 1,730.5.

The government plans to provide more than one crore free LPG connections in the next two years and provide easy access to LPG to the people. The plan is aimed at achieving the goal of delivering clean fuel to 100 per cent of the country’s population.
Petroleum Secretary Tarun Kapoor said plans were afoot to provide attachments, at least with identity documents and without proof of local residence. In addition, customers will soon have the option to get refill cylinders from three dealers in their neighborhood instead of binding with just one distributor.
