Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s largest telecom operator Geo has acquired 5.20 lakh new mobile subscribers in March 2021. According to the March 2021 Mobile Subscription Statistics Report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Geo has retained its position as the largest operator in the state of Gujarat and the country.
With the addition of 5.20 lakh Geo users in Gujarat, its total subscribers increased from 2.56 crore in February to 2.61 crore in March. With this growth, Gio’s customer market share has risen to 37.68 per cent. Many months later, all four telecom operators added new customers. A total of 8.10 lakh new mobile users were added in Gujarat in March. Thus, the total mobile users in Gujarat increased from 6.85 crore in February 2021 to 6.94 crore in March.
Vodafone Idea has got the most new customers after Geo. It added 1.71 lakh new users, taking its total subscriber base from 2.5 million in February to 2.52 million. Vodafone Idea has a customer market share of 36.28%.
Bharti Airtel, the state’s third-largest telecom operator, gained 1.10 lakh new customers, taking its market share to 17.43 per cent. Airtel’s total mobile subscribers in Gujarat increased from 1.19 crore in February to 1.20 crore.
Government-owned telecom operator BSNL added 8,000 new subscribers during the March 2021 period, taking its total subscriber base from 58.98 lakh in February to 59.06 lakh. Thus, its customer market share has risen to 8.51 per cent. Geo gained a total of 79 lakh new mobile users across the country in March, according to a TRAI report. Thus, Geo has gained even more new customers than its closest rivals Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea. In March, Bharti Airtel added 40.5 lakh new wireless subscribers and Vodafone added 10.8 lakh new subscribers.
