Is The Walking Dead season 11 release date confirmed? Let’s look into the future and the AMC series’ renewal status.
What was the best show to emerge from the 2010s?
Mr. Robot, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones and Fleabag often come up in such conversation, along with a variety of others.
On the other hand, fans of the zombie sub-genre tend to have The Walking Dead already on the tip of their tongue.
Developed by Frank Darabont and based on Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard’s comic book series of the same name, the show arrived on screens back in 2010 and has earned a legacy like few others of its contemporaries.
It has even spawned spinoffs – Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond – but the main narrative is something fans are still chronicling.
Not for much longer, however.
Is The Walking Dead season 11 release date confirmed?
- No, a release date for The Walking Dead season 11 is yet to be confirmed. Here’s when you may expect it…
As highlighted by Newsweek, AMC has officially confirmed that season 11 will serve as the conclusion to the series.
But, fans will be happy to know that it will be somewhat of an extended season offering audiences an extra six episodes on top of the usual sixteen.
The previous source acknowledges that these six episodes have been designed to make shooting during the COVID-19 pandemic easier.
Additionally, Newsweek includes that showrunner Angela Kang expressed during The Walking Dead’s Comic-Con @ Home panel that the six episodes could air in 2021 if production runs smoothly.
If this is the case, perhaps we can expect the remaining episodes to arrive a year later, with The Walking Dead being wrapped up in 2022.
The final season of The Walking Dead
While we can expect a season in line with what we’ve witnessed so far, the extra episodes are set to be a little different.
Newsweek reports that Angela said they will be anthology episodes during The Walking Dead Universe Preview Special: “There’s sort of an anthological feel to some of them. They’re really deep dives into our characters, which I hope people enjoy.”
It’s noted that one will centre on Maggie Greene (played by Lauren Cohan).
