Is For Life season 3 confirmed? Renewal status of ABC series

Is For Life season 3 confirmed? Let’s get the renewal status of the American legal drama starring Nicholas Pinnock explained.

Last year ushered in a new decade of television and there were a wealth of highlights crowned and celebrated.

All genres were covered and ABC established a number of exciting titles from Big Sky to, of course, For Life.

Created by Hank Steinberg, the series premiered in February 2020 and is loosely based on the true story of Isaac Wright Jr., who was falsely imprisoned. While inside, he was determined to prove the innocence of a number of inmates and began his journey to becoming an attorney.

After concluding in May, it didn’t take long for season 2 to come around in November and the season finale aired on Wednesday, February 24th 2021.

So, is For Life season 3 confirmed yet?

Is For Life season 3 confirmed?

  • No, ABC is yet to confirm that For Life has been renewed for season 3.

It’s perhaps too early to expect concrete renewal news, especially when considering the previous two seasons.

For Life season 1 concluded with episode 13 in the middle of May 2020 and the series wasn’t renewed for season 2 until June. Taking this into account, perhaps a potential renewal update will emerge in March or early April 2021.

As of yet, there have been no comments made by the cast or crew regarding a third season.

Back when season 2 debuted, Variety reported that the episode earned just 1.9 million viewers. To put this figure into perspective, it served as the show’s lowest audience so far.

Nicholas Pinnock on For Life season 2

Speaking with Assignment X, Nicholas Pinnock (who plays Aaron Wallace) explained his experience reading the first episode of the second season: “… it didn’t feel [like] it was a hangover from Season 1 that was needed for the first episode of Season 2. It felt like its own show immediately, and for me, that’s what a Season 2 [premiere] needs to feel like…” He added:

“It feels like it’s on its own track, not Season 1 is a train, and then Season 2 follows it. No. Season 1 is on one track, and Season 2 is on another. And I think that’s what’s going to make it so strong.”

Perhaps a potential season 3 could be on another. We’ll simply have to wait and see.
