Disney Plus UK customers are in for a treat with the arrival of Plus Star, but what does it mean for the price? We unpack the increase and the best plan to choose.
Taking to Twitter, Disney Plus UK announced the pending arrival of Disney Plus Star. The new feature has been labelled the company’s “biggest content drop ever”.
“Introducing STAR, a whole new world of entertainment coming to Disney+ on 23rd February,” tweeted Disney along with a graphic of all the coming shows to stream.
The service will be added onto Disney Plus automatically, rather than a separate streaming service.
What is Disney Plus Star?
Disney Plus Star is essentially the more grown-up content that Disney owns. Shows and films from Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Fox and 20th Television will all be available to stream on February 23rd.
Fan-favourites series such as Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Black-ish and Scream Queens will all be available.
While films like The X Files, Good Morning Vietnam, Braveheart, Pretty Woman, Deadpool 2, Borat, The Devil Wears Prada and more will also be on there.
What will the UK price be?
As mentioned, Disney Plus Star will be included in the Disney Plus package, however this does mean a price increase will come into play. The monthly charge will rise from £5.99 to £7.99. Yearly will become £79.90 from the previous £59.99.
However, current subscribers will only see price increase come into effect from August 23rd. This means if you sign up to Disney Plus before the February 23rd release date, you will save 20% until August.
Annual customers who are due to renew before August 23rd will pay the previous lower price. So, if you’re thinking of signing up to save the most money, signing up for a yearly payment before February 23rd means you will pay the lower yearly price, but still get Disney Star Plus included.
