Omega-7 Helps Heart Health and Weight Loss

Dr. Mehmet Oz of “The Dr. Oz Show” and Dr. Michael Roizen of the Cleveland Clinic say that eating foods rich in omega-7 fatty acids or taking omega-7 supplements can decrease inflammation throughout the body. Lowering inflammation can reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, memory loss, wrinkles, and even impotence, say the doctors, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.

Studies have shown that purified omega-7 can decrease fatty liver and insulin resistance while lowering blood sugar. It can also decrease triglycerides and LDL levels while boosting HDL levels, according to Roizen, who has done extensive research into the health benefits of omega-7 fatty acids.

Other studies found that omega-7 helps maintain health c-reactive protein (CRP) levels. CRP is a marker for inflammation that is helpful in fighting short-term illness. But chronic ailments can lead to Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, type 2 diabetes, and other diseases.

Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, author of “From Fatigued to Fantastic,” tells Newsmax that omega-7 is an excellent remedy for soothing dry eyes and mouth, as well as hydrating the skin.

“It can also prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries,” he says. “And can revitalize the whole body at the cellular level.”

Research shows that omega 7 can help you lose weight. It has been shown to keep the hunger hormone, leptin, working optimally so you feel fuller, longer. Studies also found that the fatty acid revs up your metabolism to your burn calories faster and get rid of unwanted, stored fat.

Salmon, trout, and anchovies are good food sources, say the experts, as well as some nuts and avocados. If you take supplements, look for purified omega 7 on the label.
