Mumbai: The Bombay High Court has ruled that the BMC should demolish the Manikarnika bungalow of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in Bandra Pali Hill. The Bombay Municipal Corporation was reprimanded by the Bombay High Court. Kangana had filed an application in the Bombay High Court against the demolition of her bungalow and also sought compensation of Rs 2 crore for the damage.
The Bombay High Court in its judgment said that Kangana’s statement about Mumbai as POK was wrong but such an unreasonable statement should be ignored by the administration and if action is to be taken it should be within the ambit of law. In this case it is clear that the action was malicious. The action was taken after Kangana described Mumbai as a POK, as seen in a newspaper article and a statement by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
Bombay High Court quashes BMC notice
The Bombay High Court had quashed the Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s notice accepting Kangana’s plea. The Bombay High Court said in its judgment that Kang could carry out suitable construction in the applicant’s bungalow. You can restructure the office, but they must get the necessary approval.
The court said during the order that it did not agree with the views expressed by Kangana but the state could not take such action against any citizen. The petitioner (Kangana) should refrain from making his views known in public. Irresponsible statements made by a person by the state should be ignored.
“Kangana was targeted for tweets and statements”
The state cannot take malicious action against any person, the high court said. Looking at the background of this case, it seems that the sabotage in Kangana’s office has been malicious and thoughtful. Kangana has been targeted because of her tweets and statements.
Regarding the Bombay High Court’s decision, Kangana tweeted that the High Court’s decision was a victory for democracy. The court’s decision is not my personal victory. Thanks to those who gave me courage.
Let me tell you, Kangana had targeted Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena in the past. Apart from this, Mumbai was described as Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. After this, the Mumbai Metropolitan Corporation issued a notice to Kangana’s bungalow, the construction was illegal and hammered the bungalow 24 hours after giving the notice.
