After the Lok Sabha, the issue of drugs was also raised in the Rajya Sabha today. In the Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan said, “People in the entertainment world are being provoked through social media. People who have made a name for themselves in the industry have called it a drain. I totally disagree with this. I hope the government will not tell such people to use such language.
Jaya Bachchan had expressed displeasure over raising the issue of drugs in Bollywood in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Without naming anyone, Jaya Bachchan said that some people “make holes in the plate in which they eat”. “For a few, we can’t discredit the entire film industry,” Jaya said. Gorakhpur Lok Sabha MP and actor Ravi Kish on Monday raised the issue of drug abuse in Bollywood on the first day of the session.
“The problem of drug trafficking and addiction is on the rise,” said Ravi Kishan. “The film industry is also addicted to drugs,” he said. Many have been arrested. NCB is doing a very good job. I urge the Central Government to take immediate action to catch the culprits, punish them and put an end to the conspiracies of the neighboring countries.
He further said, “Conspiracies are being hatched to ruin the youth of the country. Our neighboring countries are contributing to this. Drugs are smuggled from Pakistan and China every year. It is brought to India through Punjab and Nepal.
It may be mentioned that the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating the drug connection in the case of the death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The NCB has arrested several members, including Sushant Singh Rajput’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and his brother Shauvik Chakraborty.
